Diagnosis and Treatment of Depression in Adults: A Course for Safety-Net Primary Care Providers

 

This free, interactive course focuses on evidence-based depression care for primary care providers, particularly those who work in safety-net settings. This course will provide primary care providers with the tools to screen, diagnose and treat depression with confidence in their practice.

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Evaluate how to screen for and diagnose depression
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to depression treatment
  • Identify medications for depression, the most common side effects, and titration best practices
  • Utilize measurement-based care to treat depression to target
  • Describe how to access depression care resources for patients and providers

How to Earn Credit

Participants who wish to earn a certificate of participation may do so completing all sections of the course, including the multiple-choice quiz after each section. A passing score of 80% must be achieved on each quiz. Retakes are available for the quizzes. After submitting an evaluation of the program, attest to completing the necessary content to receive your certificate of completion and/or credit.

For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report up to 1.00 hour of credit and list "CME Category 1" as the provider number).

NCCPA: The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 1.00 hour of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing education for pharmacists coursework which meets the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and is accepted as continuing education by the Medical Board of California.

Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for license renewal. Psychologists outside of California should check with their state and local boards to ensure that ACCME accredited activities are acceptable for renewal.

This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.
